The Game’s Objective

Follow the Queen Rules

Wild Cards
One thing to keep in mind is that the queens are always the wild cards regardless of what else occurs. Whenever a Queen is dealt face-up, the following card that is dealt face-up is a wild card, as are any card of the same rank.
If the dealer gives out another Queen face up after that, the next face-up card becomes the wild card. If the last card to deal face up is the Queen, it is the only wild card.
Antes
Each player pays an ante to get the hand started with a small amount of money in the center. Ante bets are tiny, required wagers equivalent to 10% of the least betting limit. That is, in a game of $2/$4, the antes will be $0.20.
Third Street
Each player receives two face-down cards and one face-up card. Each player gets one card at the moment, starting with the player on the dealer’s left and moving clockwise around the table.
The player having the lowest card starts the bet. This player is required to make a bring-in the wager equivalent to half of the lower betting limit. This player may either pay the bring-in or increase it to the entire minimum bet amount.

Fourth Street

What Happens When Multiple Queens are dealt in a Single Round?
There is an exception to the game rule mentioned above when more than one Queen is out in one round.
If that occurs, the second queen converts the previous wild card to a regular card, while the card immediately following this new Queen also turns to a wild card.
Again, this can be perplexing, so let us consider this example:
- In the last game, player A obtains a queen while player B gets a seven.
- At this stage of the game, queens and sevens are now the wild cards.
- However, Player C is dealt a queen, which eliminates the wild card status of Player B’s seven
- Then player D gets a six. Because this six comes after the Queen, it has become the wild card.
Also, keep in mind that if the final player gets a queen, all other wild cards in the game become invalid except the queens.

In Follow the Queen, all the wild cards are deemed as pay cards. This means that if you obtain one, you must compensate for it by placing a chip into the pot equal to the ante value.
