Sequence Rules – Game Objective & Walk-through

To win the round, you’ve to be the first player to form a sequence of 4 poker chips in one row on the board.

Game Requirements

These are folding playing board, instructions, a standard card deck with 42 playing cards, 21 playing chips each for red, yellow, green, and blue.

Game Setup

The very first step to this is to determine the starting card dealer, then place the board in the center and open it up.

Ditch out a set of colored chips to each player and place them in a deck near them. Another player will have to shuffle the cards and deal three cards to each player sequentially.

These cards and the remaining ones will be placed in a single pile facing down, close enough to the board for easy access as a draw deck.

Players then take turns on who deals the card next.

Starting the Game

The round starts with the player to the left of the card dealer, and the turns follow that same order throughout the game.

Since all the players equally have 3 pictured cards, the first player will select a card that best fits the animal on the playing board from his/her hand and then have it facing up on his/her discard pile.

After that, each player is expected to start their discard pile close to them and must be visible to the opponents.

Other players will, in turn, place the best chip that matches the animal on the board from their hands and then pick up one card each from the draw deck.

This is to ensure all the players always have 3 cards with them at the end of each participant’s turn.

Card already played will the placed in a discard pile once a chip has been put on a section of the board.

However, in case a player has a card without an appropriate open space on the board, he/she will have to place the card on his/her discard pile, pick up another one from the draw deck, and must be given the room to play his/her turn accordingly.

The moment a chip has been placed, the other player will no longer be able to withdraw it except he/she has a Dragon card handy.

All the cards have two pictorial representations on the playing board, and each player is free to play on any of these two points so far they are still uncovered by some other colored chips from opponents.

The game typically continues in this manner up until the end.

The Dragon Cards

The card deck in sequence for kids basically come with 2 Dragon cards, which you can use to remove opponent’s chip from the game board after placing it on your discard pile.

You then wait till it gets to your turn to play again.

The Unicorn Cards

As it is with the Dragon card, there are also 2 Unicorn cards in the deck.

You can play a Unicorn card by first placing it on your discard pile and then place your chip anywhere you like on the game board as long as it is open. You now have to wait for other players to take their turns.

The Free Space

There are 4 Free Spaces available on each corner of the game board in sequence for kids. Although chips are not allowed to be placed on them, any of the players can put any card freely on those spaces.

You only need 3 of your colored chips whenever the need arises to use a corner for sequence completion.

At the same time, opponents can place their cards on the same corner if it is required in their sequence.

Winning the Game

The game comes to an end when all the cards in the draw deck have been exhausted, and the discard piles from all the players are combined and shuffled to have a new draw deck for a new play.

And the winner emerges once a player has 4 of his/her chips on a row.
